Off-Season Training

Hey guys! I thought I’d give you a little update on my off-season training! I’ve been training for a few weeks now, and it’s going quite well.

My running is improving, and each day my knee feels better and better! I am up to 30 minutes at a time now, and I have no pain. I plan to increase by 10 minutes each week until January, and then I’ll begin my “real” training.

Biking is going amazingly well for me! I have been working hard the last several weeks, and I feel like I’m already improving from where I was just a few months ago. I have a new trainer that I’ve been using for my workouts, and I love it!

I took several weeks off of swimming, but recently I’ve gotten back into it. Right now I am mainly focusing on drills to improve my form. I’ve found that my endurance has decreased significantly because of all the time off I took, but I’m sure that’ll come back quickly.

I’ve also found a new form of “cross training” that John and I both are excited to try out! It is a strength/cardio dvd called T25.

It is similar to the Insanity or P90X workout series, only each workout lasts just 25 minutes. We hope to use these videos as strength training, but also as a supplement workout for when we are traveling to visit our families and are unable to go to the gym. This workout series is ten weeks of 5 workouts per week. At the end of the ten weeks we hope to be much stronger!

I’ve mentioned before that my biking is the weakest event because my legs aren’t very strong. I believe doing these workouts will help! If you’re interested in checking them out, my friend is a beachbody coach and can give you some good deals and tips!

So that’s my off-season update. I’m encouraged by my results so far, and I look forward to continuing to build throughout the winter!
