Progress report

Hey everyone! I mentioned on Wednesday that this is my rest week, which means it’s also my test week! This is my second test week of the year. Last night, I did my swim test, and it went great! I had a 1,000 meter test where I was supposed to swim as hard as I could. I’m always very nervous going into my swim tests, and I’m not sure why! I do 1,000 meter repeats all the time, so I know it’s not the distance. I think I just want to improve every time, so I put a lot of pressure on myself. However, last night, that pressure was good, because I had a big PR! I took 25 seconds off my previous time! I felt great the whole time, and I’m confident I can continue to improve with my new form! P1020263

I had my bike test this morning. Uggggg, I HATE the bike test! I started off right where I wanted to be, but after 15 minutes my legs were full of lactic acid, and I felt horrible. I pushed it to hold my power till the 20 minute mark, and then I felt even worse. My heart rate just kept going up, while my power decreased. Unfortunately, I couldn’t hang on, and I crashed….it was all I could do to complete the 30 minutes. The first 20 minutes were good enough though that my average power was only 5 watts below my former test average. I felt horrible, and am sad that I couldn’t increase like I have with all of my other tests, but as John said to me when I finished “everyone has a bad test every once in a while”. Since my test power decreased this time, my training for the next four weeks will stay the same as last month. I’ll train hard and hope for a better test next month!

Next up is my run test! I’ll do that tomorrow morning. The forecast is looking fairly promising considering our winter, so I’m thinking happy thoughts :) I’ll let you know how it goes!
