Hey everyone! I mentioned on Wednesday that this is my rest week, which means it’s also my test week! This is my second test week of the year. Last night, I did my swim test, and it went great! I had a 1,000 meter test where I was supposed to swim as hard as I could. I’m always very nervous going into my swim tests, and I’m not sure why! I do 1,000 meter repeats all the time, so I know it’s not the distance. I think I just want to improve every time, so I put a lot of pressure on myself. However, last night, that pressure was good, because I had a big PR! I took 25 seconds off my previous time! I felt great the whole time, and I’m confident I can continue to improve with my new form!
I had my bike test this morning. Uggggg, I HATE the bike test! I started off right where I wanted to be, but after 15 minutes my legs were full of lactic acid, and I felt horrible. I pushed it to hold my power till the 20 minute mark, and then I felt even worse. My heart rate just kept going up, while my power decreased. Unfortunately, I couldn’t hang on, and I crashed….it was all I could do to complete the 30 minutes. The first 20 minutes were good enough though that my average power was only 5 watts below my former test average. I felt horrible, and am sad that I couldn’t increase like I have with all of my other tests, but as John said to me when I finished “everyone has a bad test every once in a while”. Since my test power decreased this time, my training for the next four weeks will stay the same as last month. I’ll train hard and hope for a better test next month!
Next up is my run test! I’ll do that tomorrow morning. The forecast is looking fairly promising considering our winter, so I’m thinking happy thoughts I’ll let you know how it goes!
