Recovery week-for real!

This week, I am actually taking a recovery week-for real this time! Physically, I am recovered from my race on Saturday, but I wanted to take a week of doing only what I felt like to give myself a mental break. Having 2 big races in 3 weeks with traveling/working non-stop in between really worn me down, so this week is more of a mental recovery week than anything. :) I have just under 8 weeks until Ironman 70.3 World Championships, so I want to make sure I am rested and ready to push hard for a few more weeks until tapering again!

I’m not saying I’m going to sit around and be a bum all week; far from it. I’ve actually been quite active! I just want to make sure I’m not doing any training because I “feel like I have to”. Yesterday, I didn’t do a single workout because I didn’t feel like it! It was actually an awesome day. John took the day off and we spent the morning working on weeding our gardens (when you are gone for basically a month, things get a little out of hand!). We also, worked on putting paver edging around our front “gardens”. We had leftover pavers from our patio we just built, so we thought this would be a good use for them!

After we finished that, we went out to lunch at the cheesecake factory (yum!), and spent the afternoon running errands and visiting the Korean store (also yum!). We bought ingredients to make cucumber kimchi since we have a TON of cucumbers from our garden! It turned out great!

The rest of the evening, we just spent relaxing. It was a great day :) It would have been a great day if I’d ran too I’m sure, but I didn’t NEED running to make it great. :) Sometimes it’s nice to have a break!
