Weekly Training Update

I’m nearly 5 weeks postpartum now, and this week I really felt like I was almost ready to go back to training again! The baby’s schedule is relatively predictable now, so I can schedule my day around her for the most part. Also, MOST nights, she sleeps well, so I can get a broken up 6-8 hrs of sleep accumulated in 2-3 hr stretches. I feel almost completely normal now as far as recovery goes, and I’m adjusting to the new “normal” life we now have. Here’s what I did this week…

Sunday: Rest day

Monday: I felt ambitious, so I tried running! It felt…weird. That’s all I can say to describe it. I didn’t feel out of shape like I would coming back from an injury; it was more like I had ZERO power/strength in my legs, and I got fatigued really quickly, though not from lack of aerobic capacity. Anyway, so I only ran a mile….with my dog….so it was a 12 minute mile. After the “run”, I still felt like doing something though, so I did T25 Speed 1.0 with the modified moves.

Tuesday: T25 Total Body. I still did the modified moves, but it was a good workout anyway! Especially for the arms!

Wednesday: I tried running again, and it went a lot better! I did 2 miles at 9:40 and 9:30 pace. I felt more energetic though still relatively “plod-ish”.

Thursday: T25 Lower Body. I only did about half of it with the modified moves, and the rest with the regular ones! Started to feel pretty good!

Friday: Ran again! 2 miles again, but at 8:40 and 8:55 this time! I felt much more energetic!

Saturday: T25 Cardio with NO modifications! This workout involves a LOT of jumping, but I felt good the whole time!

So that was my week! This coming week I might try biking! We’ll see how that goes. :)
