Weekly Training Update: New Normal

Hey readers! Sorry I’ve been MIA for the last couple weeks! Life has been crazy with a baby, grading for work, and getting workouts in! When I have free time, I’m usually working out (or cleaning my house) instead of blogging about how much/little I’ve done! 😉 I’m starting to adjust to my new normal now though, and that “normal” is that nothing is normal! Literally every day is different with a baby! You can never plan on having the same schedule every day, which is horrible for me because I’m a VERY scheduled person! However, for the last two weeks, I HAVE been able to do a workout every day! Sometimes the workout doesn’t happen until 3pm (and that’s when the first shower happens), and other times I’m up working out at 7am. It depends on the baby!

My workout “schedule” has remained pretty much the same as when I was pregnant:

Swim on Mondays (or T25 if I have no one to watch the baby)

Run Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday

Bike Wednesday, Friday, Sunday

My swimming hasn’t really changed from when I was pregnant. It’s weird, that’s the thing that’s hardest to come back from post pregnancy! I guess cuz my center of gravity is so much different now without my big belly! I’m sticking to 2,000yds per swim outing until January, then I’ll kick it up a notch. I’d like to add a day of swimming into the week, but it’s hardest to get to the gym now with a baby, so we’ll see if it happens. I’m thinking Fridays, and I’m going to *try* to get to the pool this Friday to test it out.

nice to be back in the water!

Running seems to improve by the day, which is awesome! Just a few weeks ago, I was plodding out 9:30 miles, and now I’m doing sub 8. Actually, last week I did a sub 8min/mile 3.25 mile stroller run! My longest distance has been 7 miles right now. I’d like to get up to 10 by the end of the year, and then start workouts in January!

Biking is going alright. I’m up to an hour every time I ride now, and I’m not as sore after, so that’s good. As far as power goes, it feels like it’ll take forever to get that back!

As far as weight goes, I’m back down to pre-pregnancy weight-have been for about 3 weeks I think. I’d like to start putting on some muscle now though! I’m so weak!

Racing has resumed now as well! If you follow my tweets, you saw that I had a 5k running race and a 10k bike time trial this weekend! I’ll do separate race reports for those later this week.

So that’s my update on life right now!
