Hey readers! This week was a pretty fun one for me here in Utah because I got some new toys! Haha, also, my sister and brother in-law were here part of the week to visit, so we got to have fun with them. Since all of my bikes came last week, I decided it was time to finally buy a bike trailer to tow baby girl behind me while biking. So, hubs got one for me and it arrived this week! Also, he found a GREAT deal on a used treadmill and he got that for me as well! I am now completely outfitted to workout no matter what baby’s sleeping schedule is like. So, here’s what my week looked like. Stay tuned for the rattlesnake and buffalo sighting!
Sunday: I’d biked the day before, so Sunday morning, I got out earrrrrrrrly. I mean, I was running by 4:15am! Haha, however, I was able to get in 13.1 miles before baby woke up for the day! (she’s been waking between 6-6:30am most days now…) This was my first “real” long run since we left Ohio! Every other long run since then has been with the stroller. Needless to say, I was glad to do it finally!
Monday: It was a busy weekend, so I actually took a day off working out and just focused on house projects. However, in the evening, we did take a family walk with the dogs.
Tuesday: I did 3x5min hills running. It was very hard! I still haven’t gotten used to running the hills out here! I didn’t even look at my average pace because I know it’ll be embarrassing! Haha… I just focused on running as hard as I could for those 5 minutes and that’s good enough for me right now.
Wednesday: Hubs took the day off work to do some house projects, so during baby’s afternoon nap, I took my son and I to the pool for a swim! I got in 2,000yds before it was time to head home and I was pleased with that. I’m excited to get to use the pool more once I start working! Lunch swims, here I come!
Thursday: Baby slept late enough again, so I got another run workout in!! 4x8min tempos around the school track. I’m feeling like my form is coming back finally after weeks of pushing a stroller! My sister and brother in-law were here visiting, so in the afternoon, we went to find some buffalo! We found some good ones, too!
Friday: Hiking adventure with my sister and brother in-law! We did a local trail that was about 6-7miles round trip. It was SO beautiful! It took us 3 hours, but we had a blast! The dogs and kids were troopers! Oh, and on our way back down the trail, we saw a……rattlesnake!!
Yea, I did not expect it because we were in the shade, but apparently they’re out when it’s not just super sunny!!! I will now forever be on the lookout for them whenever I’m on a trail! And, I may be purchasing a snake bite kit!
Saturday: Another hiking adventure!
This time, we just did a “short” but very technical trail. It was 3 miles, but the last half mile was basically rock climbing! Imagine that with a baby on your back! Yea, it was hard work—going down more so than going up! We had a great time though, and when we got back to the house, my new treadmill was being delivered! Yay!!! I’m excited to have a “backup” so I can always get my run in even if baby wakes early or if the weather is bad!
Oh, then in the afternoon on Saturday, we headed out for a short bike ride around our neighborhood and I tried out the new baby bike trailer! Baby girl LOOOOVED it! She was squealing the whole time. That’s my girl!
So, that was my week! Pretty exciting, that’s for sure! I’m hoping that was the first and LAST time I’ll see a rattlesnake, but we’ll see!
